Balancing the Care and Support Scales
It seems that the news is often full of how health and social care providers have failed the people that they are looking after. As a result, the reputation of the industry as a whole is affected.
It is therefore so important to acknowledge and highlight when there is an abundance of great care and support provision to balance the scales.
On Friday 20th May 2016 the National Finals of the Great British Care Awards took place in Birmingham. Outlook Care were finalists in two categories, having won our regional heats. This time we didn’t win but it was fantastic to be among like-minded individuals and organisations who care passionately about the service they provide.
Every single person in the room had a common purpose – to provide outstanding care – and the Great British Care Awards pays tribute to those people at the gala evening, celebrating the excellence demonstrated across the health and social care sector.
During these evenings it is clear to see that the sector employs many amazing people. It is marvellous that they are being recognised for their efforts and willingness to go the extra mile for the benefit of the people they support.
Outlook Care runs a Staff Recognition programme where staff members, who have gone over and above what is expected, are nominated by their colleagues or managers. We are delighted that we always have plenty of nominations to choose from and choosing winners is difficult!
It is wonderful to read the nominations outlining what great work our staff are doing. It is also very reassuring to receive comments from our customers and their relatives about how happy they are with the support they receive through our dedicated staff:
As soon as we started to meet the staff, we knew this placement would be what we wanted for Stephen. The staff showed a lot of interest in Stephen and treated him with care and respect. Stephen has responded very well to all that love and attention. He is thriving and flourishing under the care of your wonderful staff. Stephen has never been happier, and is leading a very good life. In fact, all our lives changed for the better as soon as Outlook took over Stephen’s care. Not a day goes by when we don’t give thanks for having him with you. We really can’t praise the Summit Road team highly enough. I hope the Board know and appreciate how wonderful and compassionate you all are.
I have been so delighted with the support and help for my sister at Autumn Cottage.
She’s lived here for 3 years but recently she went through hospital and was very sick. Staff supported her in hospital and barrier nursed her when back at home. She is now out and about. I’m so delighted that someone took the time to take her out. She is putting on weight now too. The quality of care is wonderful down at Autumn Cottage.
