Piotr’s Blog – A Spring in our Step
Following the success of the ‘CEO Back to the Floor’ visits to some of our services last year, I am excited to be launching the program again this year.
I am really looking forward to meeting people we support and working alongside my colleagues in services supporting and empowering our customers. Details will be circulated to all Outlook Care staff shortly to make a request for me to work a shift in any of Outlook Care’s services, any time, any day!
Spring is definitely on its way and February has been a busy month!
The eagerly anticipated educational video sharing best practice in the care sector was launched by ACC (Aged Care Channel) on 15 February. It was great to see some of our customers and staff from our Dagenham services starring in the video to promote learning to others and fantastic that our expertise has been recognised especially in the area of severe and profound learning disabilities.
The Royal Greenwich Short Breaks team are attending another judging day this month, this time for the Great British Care Awards National Finals!
The team were finalists in the London Region last year gaining second place in the Care Team category and so are going forward to represent the region at the national finals.
The Royal Greenwich Short Breaks team are highly dedicated and person centred to the guests that stay at the service for a short break and demonstrate the very best care in the sector. I spent one of my ‘back to the floor’ visits at the service in September and I couldn’t have been more impressed.
In last month’s blog I mentioned that there were developments planned at Foxburrow Grange. There are three new rooms being developed to accommodate more residents as demand for further beds increases. One of the new rooms will be on our Hedgehog wing on the nursing floor and the other two will be dementia rooms on Badger wing. These will be available from April.
Our new learning disability supported living service in Lewisham is going from strength to strength since we took over the care provision at the beginning of January. It’s always exciting to work with new customers, their families and staff to see what can be improved to make lives better.
