Piotr’s Blog – A great finish to the year
It is fitting that the last blog of the year centres around really good news. As mentioned in October’s blog, Outlook Care was shortlisted for a number of awards (this turned out to be eight awards in total).
Following the various gala dinners in November and December where winners were announced, I am delighted to share that we were successful in three categories:
- Sophie Richard, support worker at a number of our mental health services in Waltham Forest, won Best Care Newcomer at the Great British Care Awards for fantastic care and in particular establishing a link for some of the people she supports between hormonal imbalance and their experience of psychosis.
- Kelly Roberts, manager of three of our Learning Disability services in the Havering area, won the Best Care Innovator award at the Great British Care Awards for his involvement in the Gold Care Scheme helping people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities have a more positive experience when visiting the Doctor Surgery.
- Becky Pinnock, Home Manager of Foxburrow Grange, won the Outstanding Leadership award at the Essex Care Sector Awards for providing great leadership and support, including the ability to communicate really well, acknowledging and encouraging staff to make a positive contribution to the service, having a positive impact on the recruitment and retention of staff and being an inspiration to the staff team.
The end of our year is closing on a high, not only with the awards success, but with all of our services being rated at least Good.
As Christmas approaches we are ready to embrace all the celebrations and festivities. Our services will be holding numerous Christmas parties and events and I am sure they will all be exceedingly enjoyable.
Our wonderful staff will, as ever, be working hard over the Christmas and New Year period to ensure those we support have a wonderful time and the Board of Trustees at Outlook Care and I would like to thank all our staff who are working over the festive period.
I would like to wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
All the very best.
