Piotr’s Blog – What a great start to December!
What an amazing start to December we’ve had at Outlook Care!
On Friday 1 December we held an event to celebrate our inspection report from the Care Quality Commission for our Domiciliary Care services where we received an Outstanding rating for leadership and a Good overall rating. People we support, staff and Board members came along to our offices in Ilford and had a great time being together, talking, eating and dancing! It was wonderful to see everyone coming together to mark this amazing achievement.
The following day the Christmas Bazaar took place at Foxburrow Grange, our nursing and dementia care home in Colchester. As always this was a magical event for everyone. Around 200 people came and took part in this fun-filled day which included live music, raffle prizes, stalls, lovely food, lots of animals, Twilight the owl and Santa of course! The event raised over £1500 for the residents’ activities fund.
I was delighted to see so many people from the local community joining in the day. The bazaar is always one of the highlights in Foxburrow Grange’s activities calendar and to be able to bring the community into the home to be a part of the residents’ lives is great for everyone. One of the wonderful things about Christmas is about being together and this event encapsulated togetherness perfectly.
On Wednesday 6 December, Pav Hughes, our Service Manager of supported living learning disability services in Barking and Dagenham, went along to the 3rd Sector Care Awards ceremony in London. Pav had been shortlisted as a finalist in the Compassion award category.
To say we are delighted is an understatement. Pav is remarkable and in our eyes she was already a winner but to have Pav’s compassion recognised by external bodies is fantastic. Pav is dedicated to enabling people we support to live amazing lives. She motivates and empowers her staff and is an absolute credit to Outlook Care and the care profession. Well done Pav!
Our December could not have got off to a better start and in the run up to Christmas we are in full celebration mode. Our services will be holding numerous Christmas parties and events and I am sure they will all be lots of fun.
Our wonderful staff will be working hard over the Christmas and New Year period to ensure those we support have a very enjoyable time and the Board of Trustees at Outlook Care and I would like to thank all our staff who are working over the festive period.
I would like to wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
All the very best.
