Our service in Greenwich is an 8 bed service for adults with learning disabilities.
The service is based in a purpose-built property and is located close to local amenities including Westcombe Park station, bus stops and a large supermarket. It is ideally placed to take advantage of the leisure and cultural activities offered on the North Greenwich peninsula and in historic central Greenwich.
The service has been remodelled, offering people with learning disabilities a respite service on the ground floor, and a supported living service on the first floor for permanent customers.
The property consists of two large flats – on the ground floor is the respite service flat which has four bedrooms, adapted to support guests with a physical disability, who may need hoist support or profile beds. The respite service offers a wide range of services including overnight stays, day stays, 1:1 support, breaks out in the community and support in a guest’s own home.
On the first floor is the supported living service flat which is now home to four people who have recently moved in and consists of four en-suite bedrooms accessible by stairs or lift.
Both flats have a communal sitting area, dining area and kitchen.
The flats have access to a garden at the rear of the property that has one raised garden bed with the potential for food growth in the summer. It has yielded some lovely strawberries and marrows.
There are also two lower garden beds where again flowers/food can be grown.
Completely separate from the flats, on the second floor of the premises is a laundry facility that can be accessed by staff and customers alongside a special hub room which can be shared via a diary booking.
The hub room offers people the opportunity to relax, watch movies, use sensory activities and have quiet space and time for reflection or fun.
Our aim is to ensure people live a life where they feel valued, included and empowered with the support that they need.
We work closely with members of the multi agency team to ensure this is done safely and supported by professional guidance where needed.
Our support plans, risk assessments and guidelines are created in a person centred way and as part of this we strive to include family members and significant others with customer consent.
