Garden Makeover in Volunteers Week

This year’s Volunteers Week started a little early for us at Outlook Care as we again welcomed our volunteer friends from First Data to one of our services for a garden makeover.

For the 6th year in a row, Lorraine, Karen, Sue, Paul and Alan, along with Janice from Central Services, volunteered their time on Saturday 20 May.

The merchant solutions company, based in Basildon, Essex, volunteered at our learning disability residential care service in Romford in May to develop a planting area in the garden for residents to grow their own vegetables and flowers.

An unused piece of ground was dug over to form a space for planting which included tomato plants, lettuce, cabbage and strawberries along with lavender to encourage pollinators into the garden.

There was also time to give the garden fences a makeover with some colour to freshen them up and add to the garden some planted hanging baskets and pots.

Customers at the service are engaging with the change to their garden and enjoying the task of watering the new plants.

They are eagerly awaiting to be able to use the produce!

We send our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers for spending the day with us.

They are already looking forward to returning for another project next year.
