Kelly is overall Care Innovator winner at Great British Care Awards!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Kelly Roberts has won a national award at the Great British Care Awards.
Outlook Care Chief Executive Piotr Rejek said the news was a “wonderful testament” to the standard of care and the quality of staff within the organisation.
Kelly, Home Manager of three Outlook Care services based in the Havering/Romford area of Essex, won the national Care Innovator award presented by the Great British Care Awards at the gala dinner in Birmingham on Friday 8 March.
This award recognises the person who has shown exceptional entrepreneurial skills in identifying, developing, implementing and establishing a new service, product or system.
Kelly had the innovative idea for the Gold Card scheme, which tackles the distressing doctor/waiting room scenario for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The card is a VIP pass for customers, entitling them to priority treatment which turns the experience into a positive one. His joint partnership with the local GP has really improved the care and service for his customers. The scheme has proven very successful, making customers feel far calmer and more relaxed about the service. The plan is to work with other GP partners to launch the Gold Card in further surgeries.
The Great British Care Awards promotes best practice and outstanding achievement in the care sector. Over 1200 people, including all those who won their regional categories, attended the prestigious evening to celebrate the amazing work of care staff culminating in 21 becoming national winners.
Outlook Care’s other regional winner, Sophie Richard, was also in Birmingham with Kelly to try and win the national best newcomer award to add to her regional award, but on this occasion was pipped to the post. The Birmingham gala event was a fantastic ending to a bumper year of award shortlistings and wins for Outlook Care who were shortlisted for eight awards last year. The awarding bodies that shortlisted Outlook Care included the National Care Awards, Dementia Care Awards, Great British Care Awards, The Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, and The Essex Care Sector Awards. This was a huge achievement for the organisation, and we are extremely proud.
Piotr Rejek, chief executive at Outlook Care, said: “We are delighted for Kelly. To win this national award is wonderful and the details of his nomination proves just how worthy a winner he is. He has made a huge difference to the lives of the people he supports. We are thrilled that his hard work and passion has been recognised by the awarding bodies.
It’s also fantastic that we were shortlisted and winners in so many categories by different awarding bodies this last year, and it’s particularly pleasing that they were spread across so many areas of what we do. This is a wonderful testament to our team, which has unrivalled and long-established levels of excellence in caring and support.”
“I am thoroughly honoured to be recognised nationally and I dedicate this award to the customers whose platform was used for the pilot launching of the gold card.
“In addition, I am very proud and happy to share this award with Dr Singh of Lynwood Medical Centre, for partnering with me in our joint initiative to promote this gold card scheme, which has led to a very positive outcome for all stakeholders.
“I was very excited to receive the award, but I would have been much happier if the customers at the service, who gave me the platform to shine, had been with me.”
