Positive Behaviour Approach in Action: Our LD Success Stories at Outlook Care
With many thanks to the families and related circles of support for permission, find below some of our good news customers stories.
I's Story - Inspiring Story of Achievement
'I', a resident at our supported living service, Scott Court in Leyton, has achieved a fantastic feat! He completed a
challenging 5km Fun Run on Hackney Marshes in an impressive time of 43 minutes. Not only did he win a medal and certificate, but he also received a personal congratulations from Outlook Care's CEO, Piotr Rejek. This accomplishment is particularly meaningful for 'I' who has faced significant challenges in the past four years. Beyond the personal fitness milestone, the Fun Run provided a social opportunity for 'I' connect with the local community.
Building a Foundation for Success
'I's' journey to the Fun Run began five months prior, with dedicated training sessions at the gym. His support worker, Yemi, played a pivotal role in motivating and encouraging him throughout the process. This wasn't 'I's' first foray into fitness activities. Previously, he enjoyed exploring London on extensive bicycle rides, visiting all the major football stadiums with Yemi at his side!
A Team Effort
While 'I' deserves the ultimate recognition for his accomplishment, it's important to acknowledge the incredible support network that helped him achieve this goal. Over the past ten years, several individuals have played crucial roles:
- Pav and David: Encouraged 'I' to get back on a bike, reigniting his passion for physical activity.
- Henry: Recognised 'I's' natural athletic ability and suggested channelling it into a sport.
- Yemi: Provided unwavering support, showcasing persistence, creativity, and calmness during both cycling adventures and gym sessions.
- The entire Scott Court Team: Every staff member contributes to 'I's' daily well-being, creating a supportive environment for him to thrive.
What's Next?
'I' isn't stopping here! He's already set his sights on participating in more runs, with the ultimate goal of conquering the London Marathon. We have no doubt that with his dedication and the continued support of our team, he will achieve anything he sets his mind to.
